At exactly 10pm, the lights went off at the mega ball room of the Woodbine Hotels and Suites in Toronto, Canada. There was astounding silence and the only source of illumination in the room was from the large projector screen on the background of the nicely decorated podium. Then quietly in procession came men and children holding lit candles and walking in a single file. As they walked in, the solemn song, Only Time, by the Irish singer Enya Paticia Brennan, enveloped the air. As they made their way towards the podium with a wreath, pictures came on in a slideshow on the screen. They were black and white footages that showed men, women and children in different stages of pain, hunger, hurt, death and hope. There were pictures children malnourished and in pains; there were those of mothers carrying their sick and dying babies with hope and fear in their eyes looking pleadingly at the world through the lens of the camera asking for help. Adekunle Kosoko, popularly known as Adekunle Gold, has suffered a terrible loss as his father passed on late last night. Prince Hakeem Adeyemi Kosoko, the Permanent Secretary of Education District 4, died during the night after suffering an undisclosed ailment. Mr Kosoko was flown abroad due to the ailment and his position had to be temporarily filled by a replacement for over a month. He recently returned to Nigeria to recover, a source told LIB. Sadly, he passed on hours ago. A teacher who works under Mr Kosoko's district in Lagos revealed to LIB that his death was announced to the teachers in Education District 4 this morning. The cause of death has not been revealed. He is survived by his wife, children,  and more family members.

Sheik Khaled bin Zayed Al Nehayan, the billionaire half-brother of Manchester City owner Sheik Mansour, is on the brink of sealing an extraordinary £350m takeover of Newcastle United. His representatives told Sportsmail on Sunday night that a deal is 'concluded' between Mike Ashley and Sheik Khaled, an Emirati member of the family who governs Abu Dhabi. The representatives also insisted that the prospective new owner is very keen to keep Rafa Benitez as manager of the club and that the takeover is expected to be done in time for this summer's transfer window. Operatives of a Bayelsa State Volunteer Security Outfit in collaboration with the community Vigilante group operating in Akenfa, Yenagoa, arrested a 24-year-old criminal that threatened a young girl and took her phone at about 8:40pm on Sunday, in Akenfa NNPC Street. The victim, Miss Chioma Daminola who confirmed the incident to security agencies, said she was on her way home when two men accosted her and took her phone forcefully from her. The suspects who had a locally made pistol in their possession, asked Chioma to remain silent when she requested for her sim card. The arrested suspect identified as Kelvin Isaiah from Akenfa, disclosed the identity of his accomplice as Edward alias Seselo. Effort has been made by the security outfit and the police division to arrest Edward who is at large with the stolen phone. The suspect has been handed over to the Nigerian Police, Akenfa Division.

Muzaffar Ghangro, who has AIDs, was accused by at least 10 families of infecting their children with HIV in Ratodero, in Sindh province, Pakistan. But Ghangro has denied the charges, saying he didn't do anything intentionally. In the past month, more than 600 people, most of them children between one month and 15 years old, have been diagnosed with HIV in the area in what has become an HIV epidemic. According to reports from NPR and the Associated Press, parents in April began to notice lasting fevers in their children and took them to a nearby medical center for testing. By around April 24, 15 children ages 2 to 8 had tested positive for HIV....

A commercial motorcyclist identified as Enife Omomo has killed his wife, Faith Omomo and their last child  before hanging himself at No.12, Obafemi Eruja Street, off Mustapha Asha Street in the Aga area of Ikorodu, Lagos. According to Taiwo Salami, a neighbour of the deceased, Charles Omomo, popularly called Baba Efe, his wife, Faith and their three children were all inside the apartment when the incident occurred. He said while it was discovered that Omomo committed suicide, the way the wife and son died is yet to be known. “I left home very early as usual with my motorcycle. After some hours, my wife called me that Baba Efe, his wife and their last child, Glorious were found dead inside their apartment,” Salami said. “On getting home I saw a crowd in our compound. I entered the apartment of Baba Efe only to discover he had committed suicide, the wife lay on the floor dead and the son on the three-seater chair also dead. Sandra Iheuwa, the lady who claims she is expecting music executive, Ubi Franklin's 4th child, has taken to Instagram to call him out. In a post she shared on her page, Sandra said that she met Ubi in May 2017 in London during her vacation and that they became very close to the extent that Ubi allegedly asked for a Loan of N8 million which she gave to him. He however failed to pay back the money in full. Sandra claims that an agreement was drawn by her lawyer and Ubi has paid N4 million, but is still owing her the balance of N4 million. Sandra says she wants her money back and will be filing a suit against him on Monday May 27th. She accused Ubi of paying for publications to be put out to tarnish her image. The Lagos state police command have arrested a private security guard employed by the management of the Lagos State Polytechnic (LASPOTECH), Ikorodu, Cletus Wilson, for allegedly murdering his colleague, John Okoro, and attempting to flee with his body parts. According to reports, Cletus who secures the Computer Engineering Faculty of the polytechnic, had tricked his colleague, John, into the bush within the school premises where he first used a metal object to hit his head. Confirming that John was unconscious, Cletus slaughtered the deceased and then chopped off his hand. He was about to run with the body part when he was apprehended by his colleagues. The management of the school immediately alerted the police along Ikorodu-Sagamu road and Cletus was arrested. Confirming the incident, the divisional police officer in charge of the police station, Adekunle Omisakin, said the suspect will be charged to court immediately after investigations into the matter have been concluded...

A Brazilian  model who collapsed on the runway and died during Sao Paulo's Fashion Week last month had an undiagnosed heart disease, an autopsy revealed. 26-year-old Tales Soares known as Tales Cotta was walking the runway on 27th of  April when he suddenly stumbled and fell down during a show for clothing brand Ocksa. He received help from a medical team at the scene and was later rushed to hospital where he was pronounced dead, organisers said. An autopsy report by the Legal Medical Forensic Institute (IML) outlined that the probable cause of Tales Soares' death was heart disease that led to acute pulmonary edema, according to Globo. According to the IML report, Soares had a heart disease that perhaps he did not even know he had. Coroners conclude that, although unusual in young men, the model died from a heart problem that progressed into acute pulmonary edema. They believe that Soares might have had a sudden illness before collapsing on the catwalk.

Workers in Oyo State under the umbrella of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) this morning, commenced an indefinite strike action.  The strike, according to the Chairman of the NLC in the state, Comrade Bayo Titlola-Sodo was declared in solidarity with primary school teachers who had been on strike since Monday. The industrial action is coming five days to the end of the second term of the outgoing governor in the state,  Abiola Ajimobi.  NLC had on Wednesday said it had given a 24-hour notice to commence strike and paralyse government activities, few days to the May 29 swearing-in of the new government of Engineer Seyi Makinde of the Peoples Democratic Party in the state.  The teachers had last week, issued a 72-hour ultimatum to Oyo state government to clear and settle backlogs of salaries owed its members. A house wife, Habiba Usman, who resides in Ningi local government area of Bauchi State has welcomed conjoined twin girls. Habiba's husband, Suleiman Usman, told Daily Trust that she had a miscarriage two years ago and became pregannt last year. Usman said that his wife showed slight signs of labour for about five days so he took her to the hospital where she was attending ante natal clinic. “When we went to the hospital we were told to go for a scan and after the scan the doctors told us that  she had to be operated upon after which they were delivered with the unusual twins. Since their birth, people have been trooping to the hospital to catch a glimpse and the thing is becoming unbearable because we have to call security to control people.
