Nigeria now largest producer of rice in Africa.




Nigeria has overtaken Egypt as the largest rice producer in Africa. This was made known by the Director-General, Africa Rice Center, Benin Republic, Dr Harold Roy-Macauley.
According to Roy-Macauley, Nigeria is now the largest rice producer at 4 million tonnes a year.
Egypt was producing 4.3 tonnes annually but production has reduced by almost 40 percent this year due to the Egyptian government decision to limit cultivation to preserve water resources.
Africa as a whole produces an average of 14.6 million tonnes of rough rice annually.

A home in Oklahoma was swept away into the Cimarron River following heavy flooding. Erosion caused by flooding left several homes on the verge of falling into the river but one home finally gave in. In a video going viral, the home can be seen slowly tilting to the side as the foundation was eroded by the flood. It eventually fell into Oklahoma's swollen Cimarron River and was swept away as though it were a boat.
