Cook Who Slit Throat Of Lawyer In Hotel And Robbed Her Has Been Arrested

Usulor, 21, was said to have been arrested on February 28 at his hideout on Victoria Island, a month after he allegedly committed the offence.

A statement yesterday by police spokesman Chike Oti, a Chief Superintendent (CSP), said the suspect sneaked into the victim’s room, stabbed her and slit her throat.

Oti said police investigation showed that Usulor sneaked into the woman’s room in a bid to rob her, but she caught and resisted him. He then stabbed her and slit her throat

After ensuring that the woman was dead, Usulor, Oti said, stole her N26,000 and phone before fleeing the room.

He said detectives were deployed in the hotel after the command received report about a murder on the premises, adding that they collected exhibits for forensic analysis.

“The body, which had multiple stab wounds in the abdominal region and a throat slit open with a sharp object, was recovered for autopsy.

“The autopsy result showed that the victim died as a result of exsanguination (excessive loss of blood), disruption of the left jugular vein and sharp force trauma,” said Oti.

Although the suspect absconded after committing the crime, he said Police Commissioner Zubairu Muazu directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID), Panti Yaba, Yetunde Longe, to fish out and prosecute the culprit.

“Painstaking investigation led to the arrest of the suspect on February 28, at his hideout on Victoria Island, Lagos.

“During interrogation, he confessed to have committed the crime. He said he never knew the victim before and only wanted to rob her, to offset his hotel bills because he had spent above what he paid for.

“To execute his plans undetected, he claimed he sneaked into the deceased’s room to steal her money and her phones, but she struggled with him. He overpowered her and then stabbed her with a sharp knife in the stomach.

“He used the same knife to slit her throat. Satisfied that the woman was dead, he made away with her phones and N26,000.

“Investigation showed that the deceased was a lawyer, who came to Lagos for a business meeting and lodged in a hotel at Opebi, Ikeja,” Oti said.

He said the suspect would be charged to court for murder, while the case file would be duplicated and sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for legal aadvice.

A home in Oklahoma was swept away into the Cimarron River following heavy flooding. Erosion caused by flooding left several homes on the verge of falling into the river but one home finally gave in. In a video going viral, the home can be seen slowly tilting to the side as the foundation was eroded by the flood. It eventually fell into Oklahoma's swollen Cimarron River and was swept away as though it were a boat.
