President Buhari has met with Bill Gates and Africa's richest man, Aliko Dangote in New York. During the meeting today, the President applauded the contributions of Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, as well as Aliko Dangote Foundation to humanitarian and developmental activities in Nigeria.

MAN TOOK HIS OWN LIFE

A middle aged man popularly known as papa Ebube residing in Aritelin area in yenagoa took his own life by hanging in the early hours on Sunday. According to residents in the area, papa Ebube may have commited suicide because he lost his bet nija ticket that could have earned him thirty six million naira. Documents found in his possession when the police arrived, revealed that, the deseased was a graduate, a tricycle  rider and a great lover of sports whose son is expected to graduate from the Nigerian  military school this year. Neighbour's told our reporter that papa Ebube was a jolly good fellow in the neighborhood, had two wives and two children living with him but left when they constantly suffered domestic violence under his watch Suicide is not an option.

West, who hails from Buguma in Asari-Toru Local Government Area of Rivers State, confessed that he killed five women in Port Harcourt, one in Ikeja and another in Owerri and survived on the money he stole from the victims’ ATM cards. He made the confession on Friday, while being paraded by Mustapha Dandaura, Commissioner of Police, Rivers State Police at the police’s headquarters. Prof Chukwuka Okonjo, the Obi of Ogwashi Uku, Delta State and father of former Finance Minister, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, has died. The professor of mathematics died at the age of 91, in Lagos, soon after he arrived from a trip to the United States of America and Ghana
A university of Lagos lecturer  Sunday Meshioye reportedly committed suicide by drinking sniper after being forced to a face a disciplinary panel set up to investigate an incident he was reportedly involved in. The deceased reportedly faced the disciplinary panel after the UNILAG bus he was driving got burnt. It was gathered that Meshioye took the deadly insecticide on Wednesday September 11, after facing the disciplinary panel set up to investigate the incident on Tuesday September 10. The UNILAG staff was rushed to UNILAG health center before being transferred to Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) in Idi Araba area where he died. He is survived by a wife and three children.
A protest which some students of Federal University, Oye Ekiti (FUOYE) engaged in today September 10, turned violent as the convoy of the First Lady of Ekiti State, Bisi Adeleye-Fayemi was attacked. The students who were protesting over the poor power supply in the school community, allegedly barricaded the Oye-Ikole-Abuja highway to prevent the convoy of the wife of the governor who toured some local governments in the state from passing in a bid to register their dissatisfaction. reported that the students were joined in the protest by hoodlums and commercial bike operators who hurled stones and other objects at the First lady's convoy after she arrived. Tragedy  as four children hanged by their father in South Africa.......... Kuhlekonke, 4, Khwezi, 6, and Siphesihle Mpungose, 10, were hanged to death by their father at their Wyebank home on Tuesday afternoon. Ayakha, an academic achiever at Pinetown Girls' High School, went missing after she was fetched from school by her step father Sbu Mpungose. A manhunt led to a gruesome discovery - her lifeless body near some bushes in New Germany. She had been strangled with the belt of a bathrobe. Sbu Mpungose was discovered hiding in KwaDebeka by police on Wednesday. Mpungose, 44, was arrested and made a brief appearance in the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court on Friday. The man, who wept often during the short proceedings, was represented by Legal Aid and abandoned his bid for bail. He was remanded in custody and will appear in court next month.

17-year-old girl sets herself ablaze over fiance?s inability to pay N17,000 dowry demanded by her father

A 17-year-old girl identified as Aisha living in Albarkawa area in Gusau metropolis in Zamfara state on Sunday August 8, set her self ablaze owing to her fiance’s inability to marry her due to his poor finances. Aisha’s neighbour told Daily Trust that she decided to commit suicide after she learnt that her fiance who dated her for quite a long time has no money to pay for dowry in preparation for her wedding. He said her lover called Umar was asked by her parent to present himself to her family for the marital engagement but the young man told her parent that he was not financially well off to pay for the N17,000 as dowry demanded by the father of the girl. “She brought a gallon of petrol and a matchbox. Zimbabwe ex-president Robert Mugabe has died at the age of 95. Mugabe, who was Zimbabwe's first post-independence leader, died after battling ill health, his family confirmed. The current President of Zimbabwe announced his passing on Twitter, writing: "It is with the utmost sadness that I announce the passing on of Zimbabwe's founding father and former President, Cde Robert Mugabe." Mr Mugabe had been in hospital in Singapore since April. He was ousted in a military coup in November 2017, after being in power for over three decades.
Senator Orji Uzor Kalu called for an end of South African businesses in Nigeria as he queried the South African government over its cold feet in protecting Nigerians and their businesses during the recent xenophobic attacks in the country.
