Suspected Port Harcourt 'serial killer', Gracious David West has changed his plea to 'not guilty' after confessing to luring his victims to hotels in Port Harcourt, drugging and murdering them. In spite of the video released by the police in which he was seen confessing to the crimes, David West reversed the admission. “The defendant had earlier pleaded guilty to the 9 count charge of murder but has decided to change his plea today,” prosecutor Chidi Ekeh said. The suspected serial killer's laywer, Vincent Chukwu backed his client on 'change of plea' while dismissing his confessions earlier as having “no legal effect”. “The basis of this matter is the evidence. Let them (the prosecution) put their evidence before the court”, he told AFP. It was further gathered that the second suspect arrested in connection to the killings, Nimi Thankgod also pleaded not guilty and was granted bail.

The civil engineering graduate who bagged First Class honour achieved the feat with a total 4.89 Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA). Aimieghemen, who also carted home six laurels at the 45th Convocation Ceremony of the University held on Thursday was rewarded with the sum of N230, 000. Earlier while addressing the graduands, the Vice Chancellor of UNIBEN, Prof. Faraday Orumwense, recalled the giant strides the institution had made in the past five years.

Before us this afternoon at D/Line PHC a cab man abducted 3 school children from a woman that was about taking his cad on a drop after school, she put the children in the cab and just tuned to enter the cab, this fool drove off with the Children to an unknown destination for his selfishness purpose. The Federal Road Safety Corps has said that the fuel tanker fire on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway has been brought under control and normalcy returned to the scene. FRSC said this in a statement signed by Florence Okpe, FRSC Public Education Officer (Ogun Command) on Friday. Okpe said that the incident happened around 7:30 a.m. at KM 30 of the Lagos – Ibadan Expressway around Christopher University, Mowe, Ogun State. It involved two vehicles and seven persons. Only one person was injured and has been taken to the hospital for treatment. The statement revealed that the cause of the accident is suspected to be excessive speed, which led to a loss of control. “The Fire Service were invited and they extinguished the fire. The crash scene has been cleared and traffic restored on the Expressway The injured victim was rescued to Famobis Hospital Lotto, near Mowe, Ogun State.” Source: PUNCH

The University of Lagos, has suspended another lecturer, Dr Samuel Oladipo, of the Department of Economics, Faculty of Social Sciences, after he was also indicted in the Sex for Grade documentary produced by the British Broadcasting Corporation BBC. Oladipo was caught on tape pressuring journalist, Kiki Mordi, who posed as a female student, for sex. Oladipo in the video, asked Kiki to go on dates with him, teased her about her breasts and even took her to the famous ''Cold room'' where other lecturers bring female students for pleasure. The Principal Assistant Registrar, Communication Unit, UNILAG, Taiwo Oloyede, who made Oladipo's suspension public, said it was ratified on Tuesday October 8th. MAN TOOK HIS OWN LIFE

A middle aged man popularly known as papa Ebube residing in Aritelin area in yenagoa took his own life by hanging in the early hours on Sunday. According to residents in the area, papa Ebube may have commited suicide because he lost his bet nija ticket that could have earned him thirty six million naira. Documents found in his possession when the police arrived, revealed that, the deseased was a graduate, a tricycle  rider and a great lover of sports whose son is expected to graduate from the Nigerian  military school this year. Neighbour's told our reporter that papa Ebube was a jolly good fellow in the neighborhood, had two wives and two children living with him but left when they constantly suffered domestic violence under his watch Suicide is not an option.
